Lummi Island
Nancy first visited Lummi Island back in 2018 while still living in California. She led a small retreat for a group of women and fell in love with the island. Aaron, Nancy, and Nancy’s mom, Tina, visited again in the summer of 2025 for a weekend getaway spent eating seafood, attempting to catch crab, and enjoying the slow pace of the island. Several times over the weekend we found ourselves asking, “should we get married here?”
After some early wedding planning woes and several venue tours that didn’t quite feel like us, we reached out to Nancy’s contact on the island and began scheming and dreaming up the weekend. We’re excited to host our big weekend in a place that is as relaxed as it is beautiful! We’re looking forward to spending time enjoying nature, eating delicious food, and most importantly celebrating with our dearest family and friends.
Getting to the Island
Accessing Lummi Island requires a short ferry ride from Bellingham, WA. For those who will be coming out of state, we recommend either flying into Seattle and driving about 2 hours north or flying directly into Bellingham. Though the island is small, we do suggest renting a car for optimal ease and enjoyment over the weekend. Please note, there are no Ubers/Lyfts or gas stations on the island. There is certainly a planes, trains, and automobiles kind of feeling to the transportation, but we promise it will be worth it!
Lodging
We recommend booking your accommodation for the weekend as soon as possible. While there is ample lodging, the island is a popular summer destination, and it may fill up.
Stay & Sea
Locally-owned vacation management company for Lummi rentals. They have a nice selection of beautiful homes. We recommend booking directly from their website to avoid additional charges though Airbnb for homes listed in both places. They have a very generous cancellation policy (5 days prior to the reservations for a full refund), so even if you’re figuring out all logistics, it might be worth getting something booked!
Lummi Island Vacations
Smaller section of homes but some are more cost effective. Please send an inquiry directly from the website to check on availability for the weekend.
Airbnb
The platform has a smaller selection of homes on the island compared to our other recommendations. Booking in Bellingham is certainly an option, though that would require the ferry back and forth for events. In the summer there is a late ferry leaving the island around 12:00am.
